How do you get a chance in the OR?

Hello! I was wondering what the best approach to getting into the OR would be? A long term goal of mine is to get my CNOR and RNFA certifications. I'm not afraid of doing the hard work; I'm unsure about how to go about being offered a chance in the OR. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SnowStar-any way you can let me know what area of the country you are in? I would LOVE to get into a residency program, and I've been looking online for information on them-I am happy to hear though that there is a chance I could get into the OR without experience if I'm unable to land a residency spot. Thank you for the good news :)

Also look for ambulatory surgery centers as opposed to hospitals. Some are willing to hire new grads. I work with a nurse who was a new grad last summer, first job in OR and she's excellent.

Thank you for the information! I will definitely have to look into that. I appreciate it :)

I am currently enrolled in the NIFA CNOR/RNFA class. Due to some personal events in my life, I am unable to finish the course and am looking for someone to purchase my place. NIFA has granted me permission to transfer my position to another student. The class involves 140 hours of online coursework, attend a 3 day SutureStar Summit Workshop, and complete an RNFA internship of approx. 60 hours. The tuition for the class is $4,095. If anyone is interested in purchasing my position, I would be willing to sell it for $3,000. Please contact me with any further questions or call me at 406-861-4551.

This is a great opportunity for any student that is interested in becoming an RNFA. If you know of anyone interested in this, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am sorry to hear you will be unable to finish your class :( I thought you had to be sponsored to get into a class, no?

You must have a doctor or hospital that will allow you to do the 120 clinical portion. If you go to the NIFA website to get all the details. It is a really great opportunity if you are interested.

Thank you so much!
