How did you find your nursing school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello!

Next fall I'm going to be finished with my prereqs and am going to be applying to nursing school. I currently live just outside of Chicago. Ideally, I would like to go to UIC but I'm looking for some other options. How did you all find your schools? I'm also considering going out of state but I'm worried about finding a school that sounds good on paper then turns out to have a not-so-great program. Any advice?? I appreciate it!

Look in this site for sure, just plug the name of the school in the search, or if you know a state, go to that state's forum and start a new thread asking about the schools of the state...for me i did all my research on the internet, then also looked up to make sure is accredited with the Board of Nursing...then plugged the school into google, typing things like review of nursing at university..etc...then sent off for info from the school. Good luck in your search!

I went to the state board of nursing, looked at the NCLEX pass rates of all the schools conviently located to me. Then I did a search on here to see if anyone had any firsthand experience with the programs. So now that I have an idea where I would like to apply to, I'm just comparing pre-reqs and tuition to make the final cut.

I went to UIC for a year, and I have mixed reviews. I think it's a good school, it's relatively cheap, but good luck getting anyone in admissions or financial aid to (1) help you or (2) know what they're talking about. The hoops you have to jump through at that institution are just ridiculous.

I also have had huge problems with billing there, and I've heard horror stories from other students about this as well.
