How are fellow second coursers doing in other schools?

Published

For those who are currently enrolled as second courser nursing students. I am just wondering if your school also requires you to do your bulletin boards in your hallways, become ushers or usherettes in capping/graduation ceremonies (and tells you it is not a request, it is compulsory), attend acquaintance parties with the regular students (who are years younger or sometimes half your age), come up with tea parties for the faculty and staff and students, come up with a dance or song number in school presentations (as a class), requires you to come in school in Filipiniana uniform for "Linggo ng Wika" or Communication's Week? All expense paid herewith necessitated...by you - the student. In short, how is it like out there, if only i have chosen another school? kindly give me a glimpse. Thanks! :)

BSN is actually my third course (AB Sociology at UST and took up Masters in Management Technology at DLSU Lipa).

well... the school i'm in also require us to attend sportsfests and acquaintance parties with the same threat of 1-7 ( 1 absence equivalent to 7 duties). scheduling here is also a mess, specially for us "second coursers" (because there are some minor subjects that get into conflict on duty days!).

our CIs are very professional though and treat us as such (professionals). second coursers here are doing well... in fact, the gold, silver and bronze medalists for our pinning and capping held last month were all second coursers.

You have medalists at your capping? Why?

the school i'm in gives recognition for academic excellence for garnering the highest averages in the major subjects (PHC I & II along with their respective RLEs, Anatomy & Physiology, N100, STS, MedTerm, Nutri & MicroPara).

I feel your pain. I also looked at leaving this school, but after looking at my options and time frame I realized that this is the best school. So we suffer some misguided moral boosting activities and suffer through some questionable superiors. If you take a close look doesn't this remind you of any job out there?

Don't employers make you attend meetings, rallies, retreats and even parties. You can say 'No', but that wouldn't be helping your career. As for questionable superiors, well anyone who has worked under a supervisor can answer that question. Not all supervisors are worthy of being your superior.

If you haven't done so already you should talk to other students from different schools during your duty. It may give you another perspective. I know it did for me.

Cheer up. Graduation is around the corner. :yeah:The instructors have given us more time to review for the boards. Minor subjects have been truncated or even eliminated. It will be all worth it in the end.... Hopefully :D

hi all, i'll be enrolling in University of Perpetual HElp Las Pinas. Is this a good school? any feedback about their second coursers? thanks:wink2:

LOL! I can relate to these experiences... But I am wondering, the school has been treating us like first coursers too... but do we have the same privilages / advantages as first coursers do? Do we have the chance to be included in the honor roll in our school when we graduate, do 2nd coursers get "recognized" by PRC when they top the NLE, even in applying for a job locally or abroad, we really do not have the same opportunities like that of the 1st coursers. I really feel disadvantaged having studied too much.

Any schools that you would recommend?
