Hi! I'm in CRNA school and wanted to get a more recent expectation of what is to come for graduates. My questions are:
1) How much debt did you have when you graduated?
2) How long did it take you to pay it off?
3) How did you pay it off? (Example: employer loan repayment, overtime, etc...)
Right now I'm going to a very expensive program ($110k total) and want to get an idea of the variety of ways to get loans paid off quickly. I'll be 29 when I graduate and I would like to have kids and eventually be part time for a little while.

Great question! I'll be 29 when I graduate as well. I'd love to see these responses.

110K does not sound expensive to me! For the whole program that is. When I was looking at programs I felt that was a fair price - compared to the others out there, lol. I grad in Decemeber and have long been thinking and researching this. From most CRNAs I talk to, as well as job searches online, I do not see many with student loan repayment. I have considered the military as they will repay, and working for the Indian health service. Right now I think my major plan is to buy a house, when able take out a second mortgage, pay off student loans, b/c at least then I can write off my interest payments. I forsee living like a pauper for the foreseeable future though.... Wish there were more loan forgiveness choices out there, but most seem to go to NP's in family practice. At least from what I have read... good luck!
Well the the problem is I also take out loans for cost of living. I'm estimating that by the time I graduate I will have approx $220k in loans which seems like a lot to me lol. I wish there were more loan repayment programs but I realize I'll just have to make some sacrifices for now. Thanks for your input!
