Basically, there are two government run nursing programs that I could take at no cost to me but I was wondering if it would be worth it. One is a LVN program in my state but it is 400 miles away from where I live now (they have housing units you stay in while in school). The other is a RN program that is in another state completely (My state:California State for this program: Virginia). Both offers are tempting considering the average private-run LVN program is about 30k here and with the CC having a load of applicants and as many prereqs as the RN most of the time (to bad I don't live in southern California where there are actually some affordable programs).
I probably won't end up doing either program because I have to many obligations at home, but I was just wondering if anybody else would do something like this if they had the chance to....

Well, it's not only my fiance that keeps me from going. I think you have to set up an appointment with jobcorps to see if they have space and I don't know how I would make it out there in the first place. I am not sure what type of RN program it is (diploma, adn, etc.) & I am worried because I hear diploma nurses are having trouble finding a job. If I can't get a job I can't get the degree.
