How to decline a job offer?

Hello Nurses,

I am a month away from graduating! I applied to different new graduate programs and was surprised that I even landed interviews and received job offers. I need to be more confident in myself!

I had an interview on Tuesday for a small hospital less than 10 miles away and received a job offer. The manager asked if I had any other interviews and I said yes, I have two more interviews from the same hospital system. She told me to go to them and then get back to her. However, the next day I had a panel interview for a big hospital that was already arranged before all of my other interviews and I received an offer. I have accepted it.

Now, I need to decline the job offer from the small hospital, but I don't know what to say. And I have two interviews next week that I will not go to because I don't want to waste their time. I think it is better to call them, but it is so nerve wracking.

Any ideas on what I can say?

To the small hospital that offered a position: "I will be forever appreciative of the offer you have extended to me. However, I have decided to pursue another opportunity. Thank you for your time and consideration."

To the facilities where interviews are scheduled: "I have already accepted another offer of employment and, therefore, need to cancel the pending interview. Nevertheless, I appreciate your time and consideration."

What a good problem to have! Just be appreciative and polite in your cancellation. Congrats!

most hospitals have an online application system where they have options that say "decline" or "withdraw" application/offer.

Update:

The HR representative from the small hospital called me and I let her know that I have accepted a position in a different hospital. She was very understanding.

For the interviews, I called and it sent me to voicemail. I left a message and I used some of your wording. It helped me a lot, thank you so much!!
