Well, how do they differ? Is crna school tougher and if so then how? Is it more time consuming or is the material harder or what?

I'm doing my prereqs right now for a bsn, yeah crna school is far from now but i'm just curious.

It is different in every way possible. There is a whole lot more information and it is more difficult and in depth, but not impossible. Having gone through didactic in CRNA school I sadly realize how "dumbed down" nursing school was. YOu will learn more like they learn in medical school vs. nursing school. You will have to learn lots of information in a small amount of time so time management is a must. I remember studying a couple days before a nursing school test and you just can't do that in CRNA school. As soon as you get information you need to start working on it. Well, i hope others respond as well and that this shines a little light onto your question.

Good luck

Whats a typical nursing school day like versus a day in crna school.

Nursing School:

Wake up at 6am- Be at clinical for 7am- get assignment- figure out what to do- patient care, meds, talk to instructor- meet with class at 230pm- leave at 3pm- Rest of day is free to do what you want.

CRNA School:

Get assignment day before- Look up procedure and anesthetic care- formulate a written care plan(takes 1-4 hrs)- look up all patient meds and implications- Wake at 430-5am- be at clinical at least an hour before cases start- set up room for day including machine check- assess patient, explain anesthetic, look up labs, and review chart- go to morning report to be questioned on day's cases, hope you don't get pimped- meet CRNA for the day and discuss plan- do the cases- leave when your CRNA tells you you can (this can be anywhere from 3pm to 9pm)- look up cases for next day- see any inpatients- do postop rounds on patients you did the day before- go home and do a care plan- figure out a way to do homework- cry if you got screamed at that day- have an alcoholic beverage if you really screwed up and call classmates to complain. On weekends, catch up on all homework and studying you didn't get done during clinical week, this will take up most of weekend.

This is a basic template, depending where you are in the program you can tweak it and be lazier if it's an easier rotation or you're just fed up at the end of the program. :rotfl:

Is it like that throughout the whole program or does it get easier at times.

It gets easier when you graduate. I won't forget the first novel I read after getting certified.

CRNA school does not concentrate on the fluffy crap that is over abundant in nursing school. I loved the "what is the best thing to say to the pt in this situation?" questions from nursing school.
