How competitive are CNS programs?

HI!

I am a first year ADN student, so i realize that i am jumping the gun here a bit. I just wanted to pick your brains. How competitive is/was your MSN/CNS program to get into? I have a B+ average in nursing school with a similar overall college average. I am just wondering if getting into grad school will be as hard as getting into ADN in the first place where having a pre-req GPA of 3.0 makes you the dumb kid in class. I emailed the university, but all they will say is that "many other factors are involved", whatever that means! Thank you for your time and your input!

    A B+ average will allow you to enter most graduate schools ... but only "if and only if" your other factors are strong. As the school you wrote to said, they look at many other factors (not just grades) to make their decisions. Those other factors are important, too, and you can't make assumptions either way based only on grades.

    For example, a nurse who has proven herself to an excellent nurse and leader in her workplace may be accepted over someone with a higher GPA who had no experience in the specialty and/or no evidence of excellence or leadership in that field.

    They look at references from those you've worked for, and some schools require that you take the GRE (Graduate Record Examination). Also, check the requirements. Some require that you have taken specific courses in your undergraduate schooling before they'll let you be in their programs. Some of these courses might not have been required in all undergraduate programs...like statistics and research....
