Hello,
I am a college freshmen at Alverno. Today I went to orientation, and we all talked about professionalism, networking, and building resumes for prospective employers. I'm brand new, I don't have any healthcare experience, and I'm still trying to get money to pay for expensive CNA classes. Besides working as a CNA, what activities can I partake in to start building an impressive resume for my nursing career?
Thank You in Advance.

Even if you don't have healthcare experience, any experience is some experience because it shows that you were active and doing something.
examples:
volunteer for health fairs by taking blood pressures
visit nursing homes
join a student nursing organization at your school

volunteering is a good way to get experience in health care as the previous writer indicated.
for the future:

I think the best thing you can do now to have the best chance of getting hired into a hospital when you graduate is to get a job, any job, in the hospital you want to work in as an RN.
Once you get your CNA, move within that hospital to a CNA position, if possible in an area you'd like to work as an RN. Not only will that help you with understanding & retaining info in your program, but your manager gets to know you, gets to train you, knows your future is as an RN, and assuming you do well and work hard, you'll have preference for hiring above all other new grads.
