How can I keep nursing fresh in my mind while on a long break from school?

Published

I am on a hiatus from nursing school and will not start back till January 12 due to the structure of my program. I have completed fundamentals, geriatrics and med surg 1 and am about to take my CNA exam. I am worried about losing my knowledge from being away from nursing for so long... especially the math. Any suggestions as to what I can do to keep it fresh in my mind? I already have an NCLEX book would working through those questions help or is there something else that would be more beneficial??? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

Get more NCLEX books. There are many - Mosby, Kaplan, Davis, Lippincott, etc. There is also the NCLEX 3500 CD with questions. If you have time and money you can burn, take an NCLEX review course.

I just finished my 3rd semester of nursing.

So weird how during the semester we dream of the day where we don't have to study.

Now that school is out for summer I feel like i need to do something with myself.

I have this app on my iPhone NCLEX-RN Quiz Card System. It is really helpful; i literally do it whenever I have a free second.

I am sure there are other apps and books. Just keep reviewing, keep answering questions, and review those rationales!

Like the famous saying "if you throw a plethora of things on the wall...something is bound to stick" =)

I also do the NCLEX Quiz Card thing on my Iphone whenever I am sitting with nothing to do. I am anticipating a hectic Fall semester with starting a new hospital job, so owhile I have alot of downtime at my current job and while I am out of classes, I decided to start studying for the Fall. A coworker gave me her syllabus, course outline, and lecture schedule from last year and I have a rough idea of what I need to be studying.

My new job is in psych and my first rotation in the fall is psych, so I am reading the psych text now.
