How to become Patient Care Technician?

Published

I heard Davita and Fresenius are offering free training to become a dialysis technician. And after 18 months of training you have to sit on an examination to get a certificate. Does anyone of you knows how to apply? I would really appreciate your help.

I started with Fresenius in May. I applied, did my interview, got the job, did paperwork and shortly after started training. Your total training is 9 weeks. The first few weeks are classroom training mixed in with some on the job training. Example: in class you learn about the machines and stringing them, you'll be doing that on the floor that week. So on and on until you are down to sticking (cannulating) patients. It is extremely difficult and isn't for anyone, I am on my own now and get nervous still every shift. They will tell you it will take at least 1-2 years before you are comfortable with what you are doing.good luck
