How to become more marketable

Nursing Students General Students

Published

Hi. I am a BSN student and I have 6-8 months until graduation. I have a GPA below 3.5 (which is my school's starting GPA for being on the honor roll) and I don't have any experience in the hospital besides clinical and some volunteer work (which was done about 4 years ago).

Are there any tips or anything I can do that will help me look like a less pathetic new grad? I'm starting to feel discouraged but I'm trying to move forward since I can't go back in time. I'm hoping there might be something I can do that will look better on my resume and/or applications when I start applying for new grad programs.

I'm looking forward for honest and great feedback. Thanks in advance!

is there any way you can either get back into volunteering, or get a student nurse internship at a hospital you are interested in before you graduate?

i would try to squeeze in some more volunteer time where u could have a bit of patient contact thats relevant to the area u want to go into..

in terms of internship or a job as a tech, idk if they will hire because once u get that RN license, you'll be moving up and on ward and they'll be down a person =(

good luck!

Thanks for your feedback!

Lately, I've been looking into a per diem job as a tech/unit secretary since my schedule fluctuates every 2-3 months. Also, I haven't been lucky looking for nursing internships at hospitals in southern CA. As for volunteering, I think that would be a good idea until I actually find a job or if I get into a new grad program. Thanks for the inputs!
