How to become a CNA in Oregon at 16?

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

I'm 16, and I want to be a Labor and Delivery Nurse when I grow up. I plan to attend Portland University or Seattle University for college because I've read that they have a really good nursing program. However, I would like to get a head start on what I can in the nursing field. I'm trying to become a CNA at 16 right now, and continue to be my last two years of high school. I'm trying to look for jobs online that have training classes or courses for 16 year olds, and have not been able to find any. I have also thought about taking online courses, but they are not that cheap. I would just like any help on how to get a jump start on heading into the nursing field and what is a good idea to do and what is not. The help would be wonderful(:

You probably want to go onto the Oregon State Board of Nursing page and click on the CNA link to find out where all the CNA programs are located in Oregon, and call the ones closest to you and call them to see if they would accept you at 16. I know that there are high schools in the Portland area that offer a CNA course for their students (I think Beaverton high school) You also might want to call the Oregon State Board of Nursing and see which programs are offered for high school students. Hope this works out for you!
