Hello!
I am a nursing student who has an assignment to ask a Nurse Practitioner for an interview and ask them a few questions about their job and the current work environment. Neither I nor my colleagues know any NPs personally. As someone who does not know anyone, how do I begin searching for nurse practitioners and ask for a brief interview?
I was thinking of going to the clinics and hospitals where they work and personally reach out to them for an interview. Is it too strange for a student to suddenly stroll in to an office and ask for a brief interview? There is also the issue of meeting given the pandemic. I'm not sure if anyone has about 15 minutes to spare as I've seen hospitals filled with patients, but my professor said email and Zoom interviews are okay as well if the person cannot physically meet.
Any advice would help a lot. Thank you!

When I was in nursing school, for my leadership class, I had to interview a nurse leader. I knew NONE, besides the directors and such at the school. But I wanted to go outside the box. I joined the pediatric nurse practitioner group in facebook about a year prior just to start seeing what they talk about… so I decided to reach out and make a post searching for a nurse leader. I was extremely lucky to hear back from the former president of the Delaware chapter of the national association of pediatric nurse practitioners (NAPNAP) not only was she the former president but she was also currently the director of nursing of a nursing school in Delaware. It was also during the pandemic (back when it was just a to get bad in 2020)… so I emailed my list of questions to the nurse practitioner, she filed it out with her answers and sent it back. I then sent her my rubric which required a signature, she signed it and sent it back!! I got a 98% on the assignment (a couple points to taken for grammatical errors on my part) but my professor loved it and said I was the only one who didn’t use someone who was involved with our school!

Thank you for answering back. How did you introduce yourself to the nurse? I'm not in a facebook group or anything of the nature. Would going to hospitals in-person be worth a shot?

This is exactly what I wrote:
”Hey Guys! I’m currently a nursing student and have to interview a nurse leader for a project. Is anyone available to answer a few questions? Only requirement is you have to hold a leadership position”
3 people responded but I was able to get some one to do the interview… this was August 2020.
you can try going to the hospital, but the one I currently work at isn’t allowing people on the floors unless your a patient or visitor of patients, and students during clinical rotations. The hospital I just accepted an offer with, didn’t even allow me on campus to interview

Okay, I will try what you have done. I joined a group a little while back. Hopefully I'll get someone to help or at least a lead. Thank you!
