Maybe because I have no prior experience, possibly because I am young - not really immature but I am a young thinker + dealing with several younger patients on the ward at this time. The younger ones happen to be our most troublesome in general.
It's been a rough adjustment periond for me in my first Psych job - working with the adult(18-65) population - I am perplexed. Typically in all other jobs I was an efficent learner and always have adjusted by this amount of time(4 months on the job.) in the past. Whether it be nursing home work, gero psych, food service or otherwise. I've also been working nights for the first time but soon to transfer into a day time positon. Which means MUCH more patient interaction, making me want to get to the bottom of this. It's not as if I have had any complaints about my work performance, quite the opposite. I suppose it comes from the feeling inside about how comfortable I feel. I guess it could pertain to being hard on myself during this tenure, I don't know for sure.
Any advice or suggestions to possibly ease the transition period would be wonderful. Even sharing your own story upon your start is Psych.
Have a wonderful day! :)
