Hey guys, I just moved to Houston, Texas. I recently just graduated with my ADN. I've been having a hard time finding a job in the area, it never occurred to me that the majority of Houston required nurses to have their BSNs. But surely there are new nurses with ADNs out there who've found jobs and started somewhere, right? I start a BSN program in August, but I need to find a job. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure why it didn't occur to you unless you didn't do your research. Houston is home to The Medical Center which is the biggest medical center in the country made up of over 50+ institutions, so needless to say The Medical Center (and Houston in general) are the ones who get to be picky about the people they employ because so many people want to work here and are trying to work here.
That being said, I believe you've already missed the deadline for any new grad residencies for the year. They are extremely competitive as well. Search the internet every single day and put in multiple job applications a day. My biggest suggestion which you may not like is to look outside of the hospital setting to gain your first year or so of experience, such as SNF/LTC. You'll gain great experience especially with time management.
