Hey Nurses! What’s the word on the street regarding residencies that will open up this fall. Could we have some posted?
Thank you!

Going to live at home until i have saved enough for a house! But if i were going to live in an apartment i would not be spending more than $1000, and would not be living in downtown/med center.

Hi ! Where did you get hired? I am moving from out of state, so if you or anyone has any recommendations on where to live, that would be great!
Also, did ya'll take and pass your nclex already?

If you are at the Medical Center and want to live close, it will likely be quite spendy but be picky and heavily research the neighborhoods you sign leases in. Stay away from the area near UH if possible. If you see a "good deal," in the downtown/med center area, it is probably too good to be true, so look at apartment reviews and neighborhood crime statistics. I LOVE Houston, but I moved to an undesirable area when I first moved here six years ago due to lack of research and felt very uncomfortable and nervous when out and about. Also, look up traffic time estimates on google maps because living "10-15 miles," from work, can still be a 40-minute commute on a bad day or if you live on roads with notoriously bad traffic.
That being said, there are tons of wonderful, beautiful neighborhoods in Houston. I have lived in Westchase, Memorial City, and Montrose and loved all those areas. Now that I have a family, I am out in the Clear Lake area, but my commute is a pain, but the school districts are amazing, so I take that loss.

I was told it was about 6 months for IMU, but that it depends on each person. It could be longer or shorter based on how fast you pick stuff up.
