Houston Nurse Residency Fall 2024

Hi! I'm graduating this August and plan on applying to positions in Houston in women's health and pediatrics. I wanted to create a thread so everyone can stay up to date on applications/interviews for the October 2024 Cohorts. Good luck!

Does anyone know if TCH is in a hiring freeze and we won't have a chance to apply there due to the problem with Medicaid and chip? An employee told me they were but I see job postings on the careers page

From this thread, it looks like Children's Mother/Baby and NICU have heard back, but I'm not sure about the other units for Children's MH!

Aww I'm sorry to hear that, we just have to keep pushing and stay positive! I'm not sure whether TCH is on a hiring freeze due to the Medicaid/CHIP stuff (most likely), but let's definitely continue to keep an eye out!

I got a email to schedule an interview for MH Northeast ICU. Had some issues with the link. I was told to keep my eye out for another link that will be sent... atm nothing has actually been scheduled. 

 

Also, does anybody have any info on that location? Ill have my ADN in the Summer so I was very limited on locations I was eligible for. Im starting my RN-BSN this fall and I was wondering if I should just wait until I finish to be able to apply to more locations in the medical district.

MDA does not have specific dates that their applications open. Their nurse residency applications open up at any time of the year, so basically you have to keep searching on their website for it. It will usually start with "Clinical Nurse Residency"

I saw on a FB nursing page that they are in a hiring freeze. Unfortunately, people's job offers are being cancelled or put on hold and some current workers are losing their jobs. I haven't seen anything about nurse residency though, but I feel like this situation might affect it.
