Hey all,

I graduate in May. Now is the time we are all applying for new grad residency spots in the Houston area. I figured we could connect, share dates, updates, call backs, rejections, interview tips...etc.

So far I have applied for Methodist, HCA, Harris Health. Hermann opens next week.

anyone else, any call backs yet?

For HCA did y'all receive a confirmation email the day y'all submitted an application? I submitted one yesterday and haven't received an email at all.

How did you guys interviews go? Has anyone heard from any other residencies?

Mine is tomorrow! I haven't heard back from anything yet. I have a friend they received an email to take the quiz from Hermann "as part of the hiring process" but she is the only one I know that got that email so far. All my apps everywhere say under review still.

Yes, I did. Check your spam folder just in case. If not, I would email a recruiter maybe. They have a log in on their website for returning applicants but I cannot for the life of me find it.

My confitmation email came days later, not sure why. I still have not heard from them.

I did attend Harris health information session yesterday & they are supposed to send out questionaires after apps close on Friday.

Yeah I applied for the Spring 2025 cohort but had to withdraw it because I am having surgery and wouldn't have been able to start in February. So I'm wondering if that's the reason I haven't gotten anything back.

They told me they wouldn't be reaching out until March for HCA. It feels like foreverrrrrrr.

I went to the info session too yesterday! I forgot about that. I wrote down interview days for them will be March 10, 11, 12.

I wouldn't think so. (But for real, what do I know? LOL)  I applied on two separate HCA apps (before they added to only do one for Houston) and I got an email for both of them. I also - literally just yesterday - got an email that said they're still looking to fill spots on 6 units for the Spring cohort. Someone else responded to me and said her confirmation email took a few days. I'm sure everything is overloaded right now.

Anyone that went to the Harris Health seminar. Could yall tell me about the key take aways?

Also would love to know what everyones unit interests are.

Mine include NICU, and CVICU.

As far the info session for harris health. They mentioned a lot. Is there anything specific you have questions on?

They said they had over 1000 applicants, they prefer BSN but do hire a few ADN's. They also take a lot at GPA but its not a sole determinant. LVN years of experience will count towards your pay after you complete the residency. I believe they said every 2yrs lvn count for 1yr RN. They also said that majority of the positions will be for night shift. Starting pay for everyone $36, after residency $41

My specialty interest is the OR!!

Yes! Ask away for specifics. I took a lot of notes.

Residency pay is $36.07, Start day would be July 14 so they would like your NCLEX results by the first week of July, they said no Neuro ICU at BTH this round, you'll have classroom and other orientation and it will vary based on the unit you're on, you select your top two places and then there is box to select med/surg if your interested in that after your top two, they currently have interviews scheduled for March 10th, March 11th, and March 12th, at some point after the Feb. 14th they will be sending out the questionnaire and you will attach a current resume to that as well, the interviews will consist of mostly behavioral questions and they don't expect to really know much as new grads so don't stress that, they mostly hire new grad RNs into the hospitals because the clinics are LVN or LVN that graduated into RN, the questionnaire will allow you to pick your top location as well, LBJ will be virtual interviews, BTH will be in person but they will accommodate virtual is needed! Let me know if you have any questions.

I am hoping for L&D or ED
