Hello,
Just wanted to know if anyone is applying this April to get in for fall 2015 ADN program at HCC?
Also, I have completed all of the required prerequisites and I am taking all of the recommended classes this Spring. Do I still have a chance of getting accepted even though the recommended classes are still in progress?
I plan on registering for the HESI as soon as HCC updates the test dates and I am hoping to get a date in February.
Any info is helpful :)

To be honest, it may depend! My nursing classmates usually had all of their classes finished by the time they started. Some only had one of the classes left, but to be honest the more classes you've completed the better your chances!! 8)

I would suggest you go for your BSN as soon as possible. It's getting more and more difficult to find work for RNs with an ADN

Hey dgarcia,
Glad to see you started a thread because I was looking for one. I'm applying for HCC fall 2015 as well. I sent an email to the department to see if they are still accepting HESI and TEAS scores or just TEAS as they previously had a a few semesters ago. I went to an information last year and it was very helpful. It is better to apply when you have the majority of your classes completed when possible.

Hi guys I'm new to this but I was wondering what do you think about the program at HCC? I'm not sure if I want to apply for HCC or Lone Star. Any suggestions?
Hey Bree, I am applying to both schools myself. Lone star has better NCLEX rates then HCC but since HCC is in the med center they have clinicals there which may provide for a better clinical experience. Either way isn't a bad move. Also factor in where you live or willingness to travel to school.
HCC has clinicals at uhhh Methodist (medical center), University General Hospital and I've heard that for Mental Health they go to Harris County Psychiatric Center.
However, for first semester you will probably go to a nursing home, and none of them were in the medical center.
Thank you for responding berryberries!
Well if selected after I apply, all of my courses will be completed by the time I would have to take pharmacology. But I am sure they will select applicants with more courses completed. If I pass my HESI (which I am taking on Feb. 21st) I will apply before April and if I don't get in I will reapply in the summer :)
Are you in the program or have you graduated?
Hello KALFRN14!
I attended an information session last month and they did inform us that they are accepting the TEAS AND the HESI. They do not favor one over the other but I heard the TEAS is much harder.

I had the same dealio too. I had to take Microbiology and A&P II after I applied but I was accepted! So if you have one, two or maybe even three classes left you should be good.
I am currently in the program. 8) It's my second semester.
Thanks for that info dgarcia14 I was wondering if they accepted the HESI test as well. I also heard that the TEAS is much harder and wasn't looking forward to it
