Just have a question for all you about to start or already in or already finsihed. I just my letter and I am required to have a lot of things done.
I am trying to find a some cheaper places to get this stuff done than my doctors office.
1) A physical (My Dr. wants 100)
2) Hep. B Series (The cheapest I have found 95 per shot)
3) I am also required (not matter the results of TB Skin Test) to have a chest X-Ray (I am hoping my Dr. can write a refferal so I wont have to pay for this)
4) All my immunizations (I have no idea where I would find a record and I am 99% positive that they are not current... Going to the Harris Cnty. Health Center and they charge $20 for all)
Any suggestions on where I can get any of this done cheaper, PLEASEEEE let me know. I am so excited to have made it into the program but the cost of everything is HIGH!!! All of that PLUS uniforms and lab packs and out of district tuition!!!

The series takes 3 months fast track or 5-6 months to complete. The LVN and RN students administer them4) I got a copy of my high school transcript that has a small place on the side listing some of my vaccinations. I can only hope that the doc will transfer the shot dates onto my nursing physical sheet and sign it. BTW i graduated in 1995 and they still had a copy of my transcript on microficheI have bought my uniforms, stethoscope, bp cuff, watch, scissors, hemostats, and some of the required books.....i still have a ways to go and running out of time. Good luck!

I do not have insurance so I had a hustle for some affordable places to fulfill my requirements. Here is where I went:
1) Affordable HealthCare Clinic. I think it was $25. It's not the most classy place, but I got what I needed.
2) Houston Health Dept. I went to the one closet to downtown. I can't remember the name. It was like $30 a shot. The cheapest I found.
3)No idea. I think the people at the city clinics may be able to direct you to some places.
4) SW CLinic. I think its $20 for all. IF you are going to the county, that's the cheapest you are going to find.
PM me if you're interested and I can look for the number of the 1st and 2nd clinic and send it to you. I know how stressful it is to get all that stuff done, so I hope this helps.

i got my physical done at HOPE clinic.. i only pay $10.. it is based on your family's income.. n im gettin my TB read on Monday... that cost me $15.. which is actually more than what UT is charging for TB skin tests.. but overall. it's still cheaper.
Thanks everyone!!!
I found another DR in LaPorte that would file everything with insurance, so I called my insurance and changed my PCP to them and I got everything for $15. I contacted a nursing student who is about to graduate from San Jac and she told me about the place.
I wont find out anything about my schedule or what books or even what the uniform is going to look like until Aug. 2. I will get my class schedule then and fitted for the scrubs. We also are required to buy to "lab pack" from them that has the bp cuff, steth, scissors and other things in it. I am lucky enough to have a sister in law that has several NICE littman steths, so I will be taking one of hers to replace the cheap one in the lab pack.
I did not know there was a fast track Hep B offered. I have to have that completed by the time my clinicals start in Oct. I amot sure when they start, but I wont get my last Hep. B shot until Oct. 3rd. SOOOO I am praying that they start later than that!!!!!!!
I'm glad it worked out for you. You saved a lot of money going that route. Good luck with school!!
