Hours both clinical and theory from UK to US

Each BON will have their own requirements but will give you an idea on mine as I did ok for 2 states. Maternal I did 150 hours clinical and 100 hours theory mental health was the same. Paeds I did 8 weeks as that was a set placement and about 80 hours theory. If you have done a midwifery course I am sure you will have no problems there with the hours.

If you are short of any hours you should be able to register with a local school of nursing as a guest and just make up the hours you need

Thanks for your help! I am also considering going through California for my initial licence - as it states on a thread in here I may be able to do so. I have found the CGFNS to be unwilling to help - their website is awful to navigate - when I rang them last week in answer to a very vague email it took me 55 mins to get though after the automated system picked up - then they put me on hold 10 mins and when I had the audacity to tell them I wasn't happy with the service and wished to make a complaint the guy put the phone down on me! The CGFNS have a monopoly and treat its customers with a lack of respect and can do so because they are the only board that WA state recognise to evaluate your nursing career. Its enough to make a grown woman cry! Angela :cry:

Be aware though that you may still have to go through CGFNS to endorse. You will always be classed as an International trained nurse and may still have to meet the state requirements. CGFNS can be awful but if the state requires you to go through them then you are stuck with them. Also be aware that UK universities may not keep your transcripts so you may have to contact NMC when it comes to confirming your training and that it meets UK standards. I know my uni only keeps records for 10 years and then they are destroyed
