15-hour workweek for CNA ?!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hello!! :clown:

I am currently studying to take the CNA exam *fingers crossed* & will be taking it within the next month!

But I am also starting Nursing School August 22 ! which means when I start looking for a job as CNA, i'll just be starting the heavy school load ...

I think it will be beneficial to work as a CNA while going to school for my BSN, but I only want to work like 15 hours a week. Is that possible? Is anyone in the same situation? I've never worked in the health field before, so I need advice on what I should do & how the shifts work in the hospitals/nursing homes... I am quite worried employers out there do not want to hire a new CNA whos only willing to work minimal hours a week. Maybe spending a bunch of money to get CNA certified wasn't the best idea? hmmmm...... motivation please!!!!!:redbeathe

I hope you don't mind me asking people here a similar question.

I want to become a surgical technician. However, the job seems scarce compared to CNA. I want to be a CNA first to gain some experience in patient care. Since the surgical technology at my college is a daytime program, I can't work at night time because I need to study and prepare for the clinical externship. My only option is to work on weekends. I don't mind working two 12-hour shifts or even two 16-hour shifts, but I can only work on weekends. The only exception is Friday night. So from Friday night to Sunday night is the only time I can work.

Is this even possible? Will a long term care or skilled nursing facility allow me to do this?

I know that I have to ask the manager of the facility to know about this. Because my CNA training won't start until September, it will be nice if I know in advance. Thank you.
