12 Hour Shifts Issue

Published

So I have a dilemma. Im having ALOT of trouble getting used to the 12 hours shifts, waking up at 5 sumthn to be to work at 6:45. I love nursing and I know I wanna be a maternity nurse, but my big unwillingness to get up that early and go to work for 12 hours is a loud elephant in the room. But I don’t know what to do or how to fix it. Can anyone give suggestions or advice??

For me getting to work everyday is a struggle. I worked at an assisted living facility for 9 years before becoming a nurse and had to be at work by 6:30am. Overtime my body was adjusted to it and till this day i continue to wake up every morning at 5am.

Most 12 hour shifts require 3 days on and 4 days off. Take the time to rest on your days off and go to bed early. Hang in there it will get better over time.
