"the u.s. army graduate program in anesthesia nursing, or usagpan, is pleased to announce that the university of texas nurse anesthesia program board has met, and has accepted 37 army applicants for the fy 07 nurse anesthesia class. what this means to all the bright, motivated nurse corps officers that are reading this, and their supervisors, is that there will be a second board held by ut sometime in january 2006. the usagpan army student capacity is 44 students. so, there are 7 additional slots that need to be filled by qualified applicants. the usagpan program and the army nurse corps leadership acknowledge that trying to submit a packet from iraq or other forward deployed locations is difficult. this second board provides a well deserved opportunity for additional applicants to get their packets in and compete for a seat in one of the best nurse anesthesia programs in the nation.

when meeting with officers attending the captains career course, it was brought to our attention that there are some misconceptions about applying to and being a student in the usagpan program. the first is that you have to work in an icu, or be an 8a to apply to our program. this is false. active duty army nurse corps officers that work in an acute care setting, including the wards, labor and delivery, the post-anesthesia care unit, etc. can all apply. your chief nurses, in conjunction with the department of nursing science at ft. sam houston, will arrange appropriate clinical experiences to help you gain the knowledge and experience you'll need to succeed in our program"

there are 7 slots still open for next year if anyone is interested.

pm me if you want my information or goto www.dns.amedd.army.mil/crna for more information.

Did you mean to post this on this thread?

Well it looks like were getting closer to the release for the selection board for nurse anesthesia. They posted the selection results for the LTHET board for non-nursing programs today. https://perscomnd04.army.mil/milpermsgs.nsf/WebFrameset?OpenFrameSet

The results from the selection board for nurse anesthesia have been released. The results may not be on the website, but the notification process has begun. I guess the information moves at different speeds at different places. Expect to find out in the very near future.

Ok guys help me out on this one! I called my recruiter today because everybody that should have the results list seems to be out of the office. Anyways, my healthcare recruiter said that he got a list that had me going to OBC in Feb and I was assigned to AHS after that. Does that mean I got in???? My recruiter wasn't sure and his CC was out also.

I would imagine if you have some orders, that would be a good indication. I do not have my orders at this time to compare to what you have. By the way, what is AHS?

I am hoping it means the Academy of Health Sciences @ Ft Sam Houston, but AHS is all it said on the paperwork that my recruiter had. My recruiter didn't know what it stood for either.

does anyone have any idea of how to find out about school dates.

There is only one school date JUNE, and if you need to Go to OBC or the CCC then the MAR-APR timeframe, which should have you completing the basic or CCC by mid may and CRNA school will start in June. Check the calender for AMEDD OBC and CCC Active duty for more information.

Good luck

Yep - AHS = Academy of Health Science (also sometimes referred to as the AMEDD Center and School)

Good luck! I'm sure you have heard results by now, but it sounds good to me if you are slotted for OBC in Feb!

do u have to be active duty or be in the army in order to join this program? im interested in a program, still in college getting my bsn, but was wondering some of the requirements for civilians who are not enrolled in the army, like the pre-experience requirements, tuition payments, and like selection and deadlines. I do have family in the army, and am a military dependant. not sure if that matters.
