I would suggest checking out the website for MultiCare Health System. They have Tacoma General Hospital, as well as various other hospitals in the surrounding area. Great system with a good reputation in the area. They also have residencies offered several times a year, their next cohort starting in August 2016.

There's also CHI Franciscan Health, with St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, and various other locations in the surrounding area. From what I've heard they have a good reputation and do a wonderful job, but I am not quite as familiar with them. Worth checking out.

Best of luck with your job search!

I work with Franciscan-CHI, in one of the 8 hospitals. The south sound is pretty much dominated by either Multicare or Franciscan. You have a choice of St. Joseph in Tacoma, St. Claire in Lakewood, St Anthony in Gig Harbor, St. Francis in Federal Way, Harrison in Bremerton or Highline in Burien, and lastly St. Elizabeth in Enumclaw. :)

Other Tacoma area hospitals are Madigan. If you want a bit of a commute, you also have St. Peters in Olympia. St. Peter is NOT Franciscan.

Multicare: Good Samaritan, Auburn Regional, Tacoma General, Mary Bridge (peds).

FHS hospitals do not require a BSN, but it will help get you in the door. They also have residencies though I do not know when they are.

great thanks for your reply. is it difficult to get an RN position at these hospitals? I plan on moving in December. how long would you say the job search takes to find a job in the area?

I don't think Auburn is a great place, but that's my opinion. I just heard over half are travelers.

St. Anthony in Gig Harbor does dialysis, so I'm assuming they have a neph floor. I know FHS continually hires in the larger, Tacoma hospitals. Our floor is always short, and we are hiring at this time. We don't do neph though. If you want more information pm me. :)
