Hospitals in South/Central Florida that give scholarships

Published

I've heard some hospitals will pay your way through nursing school if you pledge to work for them the first two years after you graduate. Can soeone explain how this works, exactly?

What are the hospitals in Central/South Florida these kinds of programs?

I know that Lakeland Regional, Winter Haven Hospital, and Lake Wales used to do this...I am not sure anymore but I believe they still do....I did my ASN at PCC and worked for one of the above for two year FT, signed a paper and that was it! My schooling paid for! Absolutely Amazing!!! If you are a nursing student, check into the school and see if they offer it....Ours was a "relationship" btwn the Hospital and School, and I am not sure if it is offered to other students...Good Luck!:heartbeat

I work for the Miami VA and they have a program call VANEEP (VA Nursing Employee Education Program) that will pay for my full tuition/books and pay me my salary while I am in school. (My duty station will be the classroom.) I will have to commit 1-3 years after. This program covers LPN, AS/AD RN, and BSN programs. You'd have to be working for the VA for atleast 1 year before you can enroll in the program. Funds are limited, but nursing is seen as priority.:yeah:

Florida Hospital/Adventist Health System does, you're better off NOT being an employee tho, as an employee you are reimursed based on grades each semester, if you are non-employee they just pay it all and you work 1 yr for every 5,000$ spent

Hi there! I am currently a nursing student at Polk Community College. They offer the "Partnership for Success" to their students. Bartow Hospital, Lakeland Regional, Lake Wales, and Heart of Florida all participate in it. To get the partnership from Lakeland, you will have to have been an employee for a year. You may choose to have all or part of your education paid for by them. If they pay 2 semesters, you owe a year of work, 2 plus semesters, but less than 2 years, you will owe them 2 years of work. I got my first to semesters covered with the partnership program and the rest paid for by scholarships, thus I will either have to commit to work for the particular hospital or just pay them back. Also, them sponsoring your schooling is no guarantee that you will actually get hired by the hospital. Hope this helps.
