  1. I am a nursing student in my 4th semester and OB rotation. Today I had a pt. who had had a history of DIC with her last pregnancy in '07 (spontaneous abortion). In her chart it stated that she was on prophylactic Lovenox and ASA 81 mg to prevent DIC from occuring in this pregnancy. I have a pretty good understanding of DIC, but I am just not sure of the rationale of keeping the pt. on these meds longterm... can someone help please
  2. Hello everyone, I am in the OB/Pediatric semester of Nsg. and part of our assignment is doing a culture board on Zimbabwe with regards to Prenatal care, birth process, Infant care, Contraception, child rearing etc. I am hoping that someone may have some information on specific culural beliefs and practices in that part of the world and would be kind enough to share some common practices or rituals. Are there any good websites and may provide more specific info? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Hi there! I am currently a nursing student at Polk Community College. They offer the "Partnership for Success" to their students. Bartow Hospital, Lakeland Regional, Lake Wales, and Heart of Florida all participate in it. To get the partnership from Lakeland, you will have to have been an employee for a year. You may choose to have all or part of your education paid for by them. If they pay 2 semesters, you owe a year of work, 2 plus semesters, but less than 2 years, you will owe them 2 years of work. I got my first to semesters covered with the partnership program and the rest paid for by scholarships, thus I will either have to commit to work for the particular hospital or just pay them back. Also, them sponsoring your schooling is no guarantee that you will actually get hired by the hospital. Hope this helps.
  4. Hello everyone! I am a nursing student in Florida & getting ready to graduate in May '09. I was born and raised in Germany and speak the language fluently. Does anyone know how the American RN degree holds up in Germany and what one would have to do in order to get a job there. Thanks in advance.
