Hospitals hiring in Tulsa/Broken Arrow, OK?

I'm newly certified as a Home Health aide and also Long Term Care aide in Tulsa, OK. I've applied at both Hillcrest & Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa. I'm really hoping to get hired on somewhere this summer so I can get some clinical experience working as a CNA before nursing school starts in August, but I'm having no luck. The Cancer Treatment Center's job position posted online was offering both FT and PT, with 0 experience needed, so I'm still hopeful they will call me. I'm thinking I may just have to start out a nursing home, huh?

Hey! I live outside of Tulsa.

From what I found, it's hard to get into a hospital. You can look at the websites and see if they have positions available and apply, but then you have to call HR to check on your application. That's what I did when I applied at Hillcrest. When I called to check about my application, they made an appointment for me with a woman in HR & also the nurse manager of the floor I applied on. The HR appointment went over the things in my application, then they took me over for the other interview. I was looking for part-time then, and they wanted me to go full time to get the most I could out of orientation. If my schedule hadn't been the way it was at the time, it probably would have worked out better.

Long term care is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. At first I was totally against, thinking it would be gross, etc. but there are a lot of people there that you will get to know and care for. If the hospital doesn't work out, don't be afraid to give it a try.
