Hospitals in Florida who would employ UK trained nurse

Published

Could anyone please give me some pointers which hospitals if any in Florida take on non Usa registered nurses please. I would prefer north Florida but I could work something out in other areas. I have heard so many stories and different advice, not sure what direction to go in literally  I've heard from some it takes several years to wait for a visa but others are saying there is no wait? I thought I could apply for a H1b visa but somebody else mentioned EB2 or EB3. I have licensure (RN) and CEN certification (ER.) plus credentials report (Bachelor's degree.) Please advise if you can. Need to relocate to the States quite urgently but feel really anxious feel like I am out of my depth and I don't know what I'm doing. This is so stressful...thank you....

When you say you have licensure, do you mean a Florida license? If not, you will need one before anywhere will hire you, I believe. Also, the job market in Florida is so saturated with new grad nurses that many employers have their pick for people to hire and would likely shy away from someone they have to sponsor to be here. I'm sorry to say it and I wish you the best of luck but you will likely have a long road ahead of you.

Hi. Yes I've got my Florida RN license. I know the job market is tough :bluecry1:. I am just trying to reach out to anyone who might know of any sucsess stories....anyone out there know of a UK educated nurse who managed to find a sponsor, I know there are some (I know you're out there lol!!) but I thought maybe allnurses might be a way to hear from anyone else who has been through this whole thing? I really appreciate how hard it is. I am not oblivious to the resentment that immigrants can cause amongst US citizens too...trust me, it is the same here in the UK so I can see it from both sides. It's hard. I would be so grateful for any useful feedback I need to get to Florida for family reasons I am thinking I will have to got through a recruitment agency which I didn't really want to to do....Thank you anyway

Check out the International forum as many employers are not willing to wait the several years for EB3 which is what International nurses generally come under. H1b is an option as long as you have a BSN, the job requires a BSN and if you do not have BSN have at least 12 years experience. Then employers can not apply until April 2014 and if luck and get selected you can not start work until Oct 2014 following interview. Only exception would be if not affected by H1b cap. Recruitment agency will not make it go any quicker

Thanks Silver Dragon. So it's OK for me to just apply for positions the same way as a US applicant? I thought I might have to go through some other route for a visa sponsored position. In that case I will start sending my CV out and applying for positions. I am still wondering though, if anyone out there, has heard of, or if YOU have succeeded in obtaining a h1b visa at a FL hospital, I feel like I am the only UK nurse trying to do this but I know that can't be the case.... Thank you...

There have been several nurses that found employers in FL however I don't think we have seen many recently because of the current economic situation in the US> Many US nurses are looking for work and for H1b the employer has to pay all fees and that is $$$$

You lose nothing by applying in trying
