Hospital Vs. Doctors office

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I am currently a night shift nurse at a rural hospital where I have worked for a year, and I love it! My husband however, is not so fond of the hours, we are wanting to start a family soon so I was considering transferring to the local doctors offices as a float nurse. I already have relationships with all of the doctors, and know their personalities, both good, and bad, but am torn on whether I want to work for them full-time. Any thoughts as far as the pros and cons of my situation?

Specializes in Progressive Care Unit.

Why not try going to day shift and see how it works? Transferring to a clinic may also mean a pay cut.

The problem I have encountered is that everyone wants to work days at the hospital, since I am one of the low men on the totum poll there is no slot. It is a slight pay cut I will only be losing my differentials since I will technically be working for the same hospital district.

I will say you are still busy. Is this primary care or a specialty??

I would be in a float position so a little of both, mostly primary.
