Have you thought about getting your CNA and working in the hospital actually with patients, instead of applying for the clerical assistant job?
Also, most hospitals will take a student nurse after 1 semester of clinicals for the job of student nurse aide (pretty much like the CNA job, but I do know that mine paid slightly more when i was a Student nurse aide)
Good luck with the new job search and with starting school!

I am currently working for a plumbing company in New York City and I am interested in working in a hospital. My problem is that I do not know what position to apply for other than a Clerical Secretary Assistant which seems nearly impossible to get. I am married, father of two and the only income coming in so i can't take a pay cut from the between 40-45k per year that I make.
I will be attending Molloy College in the fall and I'd love to work closer to home, i spend over three hours per day travelling from Long Island to NYC and I just can't take it anymore.
Any suggestions?
