This is not a question or anything. I just want to share something. I had an interview with a major hospital in my city this morning. It's a CNA position on mom/baby floor. I love the unit.:heartbeat I was told people rarely leave once they are hired. :yeah:Overall, I think the interview went well. I was so mesmerized by how clean and organized the place is. They have so many cool gadgets mounted on the wall. Everyone carries a GPS device so they can find anyone at time. I just told them straight that I would work for them for free because I was so impressed by the facility. I normally wouldn't work on weekends and nights but I told them I would take any shift. And the nice thing about the job is that it's only 5 blocks from my apartment. I was told applicants who were granted the in-person interview are among the top 10%. I am flattered that they selected me because it took me an initial interview, a phone interview and almost 1.5 month to get this interview. Since the holiday is coming, they told me it's probably gonna take them 2 weeks to get back to me. I don't know if I can wait that long. What should I do in the mean time? (I am jobless right now, just quit my horrible nursing home job).

I would not celebrate yet...

Those type floors are high demand jobs. Every female CNA wants that floor. If they did not give you any promises, I would assume that they have hired someone else. Some of these HR folks at hospitals are notorious for yanking people around. Also, someone internal could still transfer to that floor.

Try an agency in the meantime. That way you have no commitments if they do call you.

But, If you get it, awesome! As a big, ugly dude like myself, I would be afraid I would accidentally 'break' the babies! I have always been nervous around small kids - even the one or two time I was on a float pool at the first facility I worked at and wound up on peds. Guess I will have to stick to my suicide patients and heroin addicts.
