Hospice jobs for new grads

Published

I am an RN student in Ohio and I plan to relocate to California next year after graduation, Can anyone offer advice on how to begin a career in hospice? Iam willing to attend hospice training before the move and even volunteering at a hospice while in school for experience. There is only hospice facility in my area and they rarely hire. I will get my license in Ohio and then transfer to California. I have been reading some info online and it seems like many grads are not finding work. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

In CA, you are required to have a year of RN experience to get into hospice. This bit me in the butt- the managers wanted to offer me the job, but the recruiter wouldn't let them.

thank you for your input. In Ohio, they want to you to have 1-3 yrs experience! I had read a few posts somewhere that new grads got hired in CA for hospice and was very curious. Thanks again
