Hormone Replacement Therapy in 28 year old

Published

Maybe I'll get some feedback in this forum. I know in the past, some have gotten offended for me mentioning my libido (or lack of).

I have been on a compounded testosterone cream for a couple months now. To make a story short, having kids messed my hormones all up. I've noticed a HUGE difference in my libido when using the testosterone cream regularly, so that's a plus since that was my main problem.

My gyno has now put me on a compounded progesterone cream also. She said my hormone levels came back low. I have a stupid question though. The prescription says to apply "topically". I'm assuming that means to use it the same way as the testosterone? I apply the testosterone to my neck, wrists, thighs....areas where I have thin skin. Does anyone know if I apply the progesterone the same way? I called the doctor yesterday, but haven't received a call back yet.

Also, do you think it's safe for me to be on these prescriptions? Weren't there warnings a few years ago about HRT's causing cancer or heart problems? I'm only 28.

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Edited to say that I'm not looking for personal medical advice. I'm just wondering if it's COMMON or normal in your opinion for someone of my age to be on these compounded hormones. Also, I'm wondering if I'm correct in thinking that there was a warning out a couple years ago about HRT's causing cancer or heart problems.

There is a study out there about HRT but it is the combination of estrogen and progesterone that they studied such as prempro. There are warnings that go along with using the combination therapy. You should wait for the call from you doctor to find out how to use it, or you could call the pharmacy where you got your prescription and ask them. Most estrogen replacent creams are used lady partslly. I am not sure about the progesterone.
