Hoping to find some good advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Specializes in esthetics, skincare.

Hello all, I'm a 23 year old mother of a 2 year old boy. I've been married for 3 years and I have been with my husband for many years. I feel very settled and we are a very stable family :smug:

I recently decided to go to school for esthetics and I am over halfway through my 600 hour program. I discovered that I love skincare, and I am mostly attracted to the medical part of it.

Originally, I have always wanted to go into nursing. My mom is an RN, as well as many of my friends, and I have always had a strong interest in it. I chose to go to school for esthetics because I felt that I would have no time to study and keep up with all my housework, raising my son, and having a good relationship with my husband and "family time."

Lately, I cant stop thinking about how I wish I could be an esthetic nurse:nurse:, working in either a dermatology office or plastic surgeons office. I plan on doing this with my estheticians license, but it simply isn't the same.:sorry:

I would like to hear from other people who have been in a similar spot that I am in.

How did nursing affect your relationship with your husband and kids?

How much did it affect your home life? Did you still have time to cook, clean, have quality time doing things like trips to the park and giving night time baths?

What do you reccomend for me? Should I just put it on hold until my son is older, or if I feel 100% determined, should I just go for it soon after I get my esthetics license?

Any advice is Greatly appreciated
