I started a LPN program in Jan 2010 I was so happy! The cost of the program was $12,000 it was a 12 mth program. There was a class of 40 students it was at a University.I started off great passing every class I took I also was in advanced standing for two classes.I made A's and B's throughout we lost four students through personal reasons and some failed out we also gained students from previous classes. The program consisted of doing projects and volunteer work for two hours at different places. Some of the instructors were careless and there was a lot of favoritism and racism in the program. When we started Med-Surg I it started to get a little harder they had to throw one test out and do another one because everyone failed it but I prayed and I had a very supportitive family behind me to pray also.I passed the class and went on to Pedi/oB and then we started Med-Surg II it started off hard from the start the test were so hard I studied I even took off from work to devot my time to studying and I still did bad on the first tests iI felt like everything was against me.I had a boyfriend was so dirty and abusive he would take my keys and he made me miss clinicals one day which I got a zero because of him.The day before my final he got put in jail and called me to bail him out I was studying for my final me and his mom went to bail him out and we didn't get home til 2 am knowing I needed to study for my final I continued to study I went to bed around 5 am and I had school at 8 am I got up early around 6:30 to study some more before I took my test.I took my test and there were 100 questions the test had 104 slots which I would've preferred there to be 104 questions to increase my chance of getting a 94 to pass the class after the test I felt that i didnt do good enough on it.Later on that day I got my grade I made a 90 and the project we had to do that the students graded me on I got a 94% out of a 100% I had everything that was on the grading sheet.I had a 81% overall in the class and you have to have a 82% to pass.I was hurt I wasn't gonna let them see me cry so I waited til I lefted the office.Seven of us failed MEd-Surg II we had a pharm II test the next day and it had 104 questions on it mostly everybody was passing in that class and they gave us more questions but Med-Surg II they only gave us 100 when majority were failing.I hate the fact that I had one class lefted then I would've have been graduating this month.I'm trying my best to get in somewhere else but the Technical colleges go by hours so even if you passed a class if your hours are not what the require you will have to retake that class which I think isn't right. Also they have a waiting list.I will continue on until I become a nurse I have been a CNA for four years and being a nurse is my dream.

Sounds like you are doing all you can to become a nurse! Keep your head up and just keep trying!

I went to a technical school, concorde college, and I went through a 13 month accelerated program, first 3 months were class time and after that it rotated one week 2 days of class and 3 of clinicals and the next was 3 days of class and 4 days of clinicals. I didnt have to take any pre reqs, just two different entrance exams and place in the top 36 spots. My license is transferable to any state also. Apollo has a similar program available but is 17 months.

I got a great education, our class had 100 % pass rate on the NCLEX (just our class not the school) and I passed my NCLEX first try with minimum amount of quesitons. Here is a list of my classes

PN 154- NCLEX review - this included our exit exam, you had two tries, and if you failed the second you had to start again next semester.

PN 152 clincial practice

This was all split up into 5 semesters. I think the program was awesome. Cost $22,000 But was able to get loans for most of it, and all payments were deffered until 6 months post grad, with only $66 a month. Good luck!

DONT GIVE UP!!!!!!! Keep that goal in mind!!! You can do it!!

If I didn't know any better I would think you were in my class. We lost 4 the day before graduation, 7 total in the last semester. Med-Surg 2 got most of them. It's really sad. Most will try to come back in the summer to finish their final semester, at least one is going to another school to finish because this program is so horrible.

If nursing is your dream, keep working toward it. I am 32, applied to my first RN program when I was 22 and got accepted but couldn't attend. I applied to a different school when I was 30, got accepted and had to decline because I thought it was the online program I was accepted to. So basically I've been working toward my nursing degree for over 10 years and I refuse to give up, I know this is what I am meant to be.
