Hopeful student saying hello

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I just took the NET today. I'm a 42 year old guy (married 17 years to an RN), most recently working in Computer Networking.

I haven't been to school in quite awhile, I had good HS grades but never finished college (hey, it was the 80's!).

I am a hoping to land a spot in the next Practical Nursing program,

but I have no idea how many other applicants the school has (an abundance, I'm sure).

I scored in the 98th percentile for the LPN program, and the 94th for the RN program (they gave me both score sheets).

I'm hoping my scores plus my experience with medical supplies and equipment, hospitals and Long-Term Care facilities (I worked for a medical supply company for 12 years) are enough to make the cut.

Admission deadline is 2/14, I'm not sure when letters go out.

I'm in Western Massachusetts btw. Nice to meet you all!

Good luck! I am kind of in the same situation. I am taking the NET Feb 2, hoping to get in the Fall class. I have alot of credit hour stocked up from the "80's" too, which REALLY drug my GPA down, so I hope to get in. They tell me that they don't look at GPA, only application, NET scores, and if I have my prereqs done. So, crossing my fingers.....

:D Good luck, sounds like you have a pretty good shot, the LPN program I am starting had 300 applicants and only 25 spots...it is rather competitive.

Best of luck! Sounds like with your grades and experience, you have a very good shot! I'm also a returning adult in my 40s, we make very conscientous students!!:D

GOOD LUCK!!!! I went back and got my LPN when I was 29 after being a medical assistant for 10 years....You can do it!!!!
