Hello all! I am in the process of applying to Georgia Highlands Fall 2012 Nursing program. I am wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? I have all A's and B's in all of pre reqs, 2 Bs and an A in the sciences, which makes me nervous. I also didn't do that well on the TEAS. I got an 81, but did extremely well in the science part of it. I had an 1050 on my SAT'S from back in 2002. I did the worksheet total that they have online, and my score was an 1131. I am wondering if this is enough? But the worksheet does not include the TEAS calculation.
Any info or comments would be great! I just want to know where I stand
this is what eileen walker told me:
"letters are sent in 3 batches
same day
fat ones for yes!
skinny ones for waitlist maybe
skinny ones for sorry, we hope you’ll apply again"
so let's pray for fat ones!!!!
also- i called yesterday and they said letters will go out today (thursday), so hopefully we'll all know by tomorrow or saturday!
So here's a question:
If I get in (hopefully!!!) then I will have to quit my full time job when I start the program. I'm going to have to come up with some money for living expenses through financial aid/ student loans, etc.
And GHC can't tell me anything yet because they haven't evaluated FAFSA's for Fall Semester yet- SO FRUSTRATING! I don't even know what my options are because my old school Chatt. Tech. doesn't do student loans, so I've been using HOPE Grant and paying the rest out of pocket so far.
Is anyone else in this situation? If so- what are your plans?

Me!!! That is not even the worse part, I had to pay 200 to secure my spot, that I get back, 140 for one set of uniform, stethoscope, penlight and scissors cost 189, stethoscope was 160, shoe i got form jcpenny was 45...I also have to move close to the school and finding a reasonable apartment price and a place I can leave my daughter early enough to get to clinicals
@ 6:15 has been a headache.
I cant work too unless someone offers me a job on tue and thur, when I don't have school.
I got offered a stafford loan of 5000 for the semester that covers just rent...hope and pell I wouldn't know till they register me at orientation which is 4 days from the
First day of class. I can't calculate it since I won't be full time.
OMG how frustrating! Together we make too much to qualify for Pell. Since they go off last year's W2's, I'll still be screwed on that one. So that leaves HOPE and possibly Stafford loans. I am going to have to come up with about $5000 per semester to cover tuition and bills. I just hope it's possible. My biggest fear is that they will cover tuition/books, but none left over for living expenses. Then I would have no other choice but to wait until next semester to apply again and save money or something. STRESS doesn't even begin to cover it!

I guess if you see a big envelope you are in. When i first got my letter from NGCSU it was a regular envelope, I was wait listed
So when I saw the big envelope months later, I didnt have to open it to know I was in. All I needed was a big envelope with the
Schools name...lol
