is there hope with a bad Teas but good GPA?

i am really confused about the Teas test. i keep reading posts about people worried they havent passed the teas test. i know all schools are different, but my understanding at my university is that they just use your score to figure out where to place you and it isnt a dealbreaker at all. i have looked over lots of sample tests and it wouldnt matter how long i studied, i dont think i would ever do very well on it. i know that sounds neg., but i just know how i take tests, however, i already have a bba degree and i have made straight A in all my science prereqs, with two left to take. i just wonder if it is possible to get in with good grades, but a poor teas score? it just seems like studying hard and making good grades should count for something.

Most ADN programs will let you know the minimum score you need to get in. If you don't make the cut off score on the first try you can take the test again. Also some ADN programs in my state will accept a score on any of the three nursing tests so you can choose between TEAS, HESI or NET. If you're applying to BSN programs then they will probably look at your entire profile so while it helps to have the best score possible if your score isn't wonderful it probably would not be a deal breaker when weight against other factors such as a high gpa.

I just attended my school's "nursing advisement session". Our community college bases selection off of points. Out of the required pre-nursing credits, for most classes, we get 3 points for A's, 2 points for B's, 1 point for C's. For science classes, we get 4 points for A's, 3 points for B's... etc.

There are 33 possible points from grade points. Then, 20 maximum points can be scored from the TEAS test for a total of 53 points. I'm not sure how they do it elsewhere, though.

I think every school is different in their admission requirements. I know the schools around here all have a minimum required score on the TEAS for admission. However, I have also heard of schools who look solely at your GPA and don't require an entrance exam. Just double check with the admission dept at your school to see what they require. And just because your school may use the TEAS for placement purposes only and look more at your GPA doesn't mean you shouldn't strive for the highest score possible on the TEAS. If you've gotten all A's in your sciences I'm sure you'll do just fine. But in the event that you get a lousy score, you can always retake it!! Good luck to you!!
