home owners and mail

hello all! I'm thinking about traveling and I'm curious to know if many travelers own their own homes. I'm considering buying a home where I live but also would like to travel part of the year, every year (sorta become a snowbird). How does this work on your taxes?

Also, how does everyone get their mail? I've thought that perhaps I could get a p.o. box when, and if I go, on the road....or can you do general delivery?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We have all our mail sent to my in-law's, and then they send it all to us wherever we are once a week or so- that way, we don't have to worry about having our mail forwarded every time we move- things tend to get lost if you change your mailing address too much.

For mail my 22 yr old son lives at home and he opens the mail, takes care of bills and tells me if it is something I need to know. I work 3 hrs away so if I have 3 days off in a row I can drive home and take care of something if needed. I'm not sure what I would do if it was in a different state. I can go home at least once in a 13 week period if needed. My brother who just got back from Iraq had all his mail sent to our sister who lives in the same state. he kept in touch via email.

We have found aprivate mail box (UPS type Stores) to work well for a mailing address. They will forward to your assignment at your direction.

We own a home, works very well for us. Suggest you discuss with your agency and your tax preparer the possible tax implications.
