I am getting ready to start a new position in home infusion. I have oncology med surg and icu background but I am burnt out from the bedside and institutional politics. I am just looking to try something different. Any tips on starting in this new field? What is a day like as a home infusion nurse? Pros? Cons?

Sometimes pay scale is a range based on pharmacy reimbursement. For example I have a Prolastin C client that his actual infusion averages about 45mins. His pharmacy pays me $60 per infusion whether I'm there for 1 or hours. Another client getting IVIG it's a set $40/hr. Since you have several years experience at the rheumatology clinic hopefully they will match or exceed what you were making there.
Best of luck to you!
