I work for a home health care agency in central NJ. I was wondering if the RN pay rate I get is comparable. I get $27/hr. My nursing home job paid $32 but only after working there for 10 years. I want to make sure I'm making what I should be. Thanks!
Are you doing skilled home health (start of care, visits for 30-60 minutes for specific skilled needs of a homebound client such as CHF education post hospitalization, BP monitoring, labs, monitoring of edema) or "extended shift" aka private duty. Private duty is most often pediatrics and young adult, these clients are medically complex and not homebound but required skilled nursing services to remain in the home environment or attend school. Commonly genetic conditions, head injuries, CP, epilepsy, trach or trach/vent dependent, GT/NG/GJ/NJ/JT medications. Shifts are 4-16 hours in length depending on authorization and client needs.
If private duty, since rate is tied to Medicaid reimbursement (which is very low around $16/hr for RNs) then this rate is about eight especially if pediatrics and you have no pediatric experience. ,
$27/hr for private duty/hourly skilled nursing for both adult and ped. Sometimes I am in the home and sometimes I go to school with the child. I get $60 for an IV infusion visit, $54 for a wound care visit. I also feel like LPN get more cases since insurance doesn't want to pay RNs. Is this true? What can I do to get more pediatric private duty RN hours?

There are almost none except infusion & central line infusion initiation. Trach-vent is LPN or RN. Most private duty pediatrics is LPN skill level and reimbursed at that level. School districts sometimes pay $2-5 more an hour but many now know LPN scope of practice n
