comments from another thread got me to thinking...

what do other nurses think we do? do they even know what hh nursing is? do they think we have any skills?

i know that initially i thought i would lose a lot of my clinical skills. it's funny because i actually improved my assessment skills. you have to be really good when you don't have machines to look at!

so what do you all think?

I was in the hospital for 31 years. I never considered HH because I didn't think I was smart enough knowing that I would be making decisions without the use of machines, lab tests, etc....I'm like you Cas I think my critical thinking skills have only gotten sharper.

me too. i know i'm much better at assessing and even giving the docs a heads up at what's going on :D with their pt's. sometimes before they realize it.

i guess when i worked bedside, i never realized the huge world of hh nursing, visiting nurse, hospice, in home nursing, etc. in the hospital, the view of nursing is very narrow.

and i know i shouldn't let it bother me but the cruddy remarks made in the general discussion did get under my skin. incompetent indeed:trout: pfffttt. i really hate when nurses do that to each other. we should have each other's backs, not be disrespectful. especially here on a nurse's site!

i always think that those that make remarks like that will one day eat those very words:chuckle ...
