Home health nurse with DUI

Have you or do you know of any home health nurses that have received a DUI, while not on the job? What were/are the consequences in your area? My daughter received her first and only DUI last December, the Board has told her she may not work in home health for 2 years.

Was told a client fired a nurse that was found passed out drunk on the couch. Don't know what happened to her. Have also learned about the restriction from hh for those who enter the program. This has to be extra hard on those who work in hh to begin with. Best wishes for your daughter in getting herself together and through this.

Update on my daughter's predicament. She was given 2 weeks to find a job working at least 32 hours per week under direct RN supervision. If she does not have a job in this time period she will have to voluntarily surrender her license. This is hard to believe. She's been through hell, I fear she may kill herself. She is a single mom of a 15 year old and they lost their home to Katrina in 2005. SHe had never caught up and probably never will.

Not sure if I mentioned this: She was at a Home Health Company Christmas party just before her accident due to DUI!

Sorry to hear this. One would have thought there would have been some designated drivers at an office Christmas party with sanctioned alcohol. On a good day most can't get a job within two weeks. Think the Board really knows this when putting forth their requirement. Keep an eye on her, she needs your support.

I know she needs my support, but what I can give is limited. She will be on the streets soon.
