Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I haven't seen a thread for the Holy Family University Spring 2019 cohort yet, so I wanted to make one! Has anyone applied and been accepted yet? Or waiting to hear back? This is for the fast-track 2nd degree program!

Hi I also applied for Holy Family absn I submitted my application on Jan 28th for fall 2019. I am wondering if they filled up their spring cohort I wouldn't mind starting end of April. I hope to get in, I have also applied to and Jefferson absn program. Holy family's program is the most affordable so I hope to get in.

@Julian20052000 I'm sorry I am not sure how I missed this. Undergrad I had a 3.3 and my pre reqs was a 3.7.

Has anyone else committed to Holy Family for April start? I was wondering if there was a Facebook group for the incoming students.

I’m starting in April 2019. Looking to connect with students and look for accommodation.

I’m starting in April 2019. Looking to connect with both continuing and incoming students who may be look for accommodation together. Please direct message me if anyone has information about affordable accommodation in the area. Thank you.

If anyone is interested in starting summer instead of fall you should call and let them know before decisions going out. However, you have to already have all your pre-reqs completely and everything submitted.

I called today and was told decisions should be out in a week or two. I was also asked if I would be interested in the summer cohort...I would’ve love to but I’m still taking pre-reqs. It seems as though they have more seats available for the summer. I’m not surprised because most of the schools I applied to asked me if I would like to start summer instead.

Hi everyone!!! Sorry I’m late to this thread @brillecI am attending the Summer 2019 cohort too- I can’t wait to meet everyone, orientation is so soon now! I can’t answer your question about a Facebook group since I don’t have a Facebook lol sorry!

@alyssawentz33 to answer your question, yes absolutely! I originally applied to the Spring 2019 cohort and didn’t get in, so I reapplied to Summer 2019 (the one starting at the end of April) and got in! I did well in my remaining pre-reqs during that time, which surely helped my chances. My advice is to 100% not give up and to reapply, you can do it! Best of luck!

Hello!

I was just accepted to Holy Family for the Summer but I think it technically starts at the end of April? Does anyone know the answer to this? Also, what month does the entire program end? I am trying to decide between Holy Family and Jefferson because I have been accepted to both but I am leaning towards HF.

Thanks!

Hey Brillec

I am actually in the Summer 2018 cohort so I can answer some of your questions. We started May 1 2018 and we graduate June 21 2019. You have 7 mini 8 week semesters. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi everyone, I just graduated a week ago from this program. I responded to some of you regarding questions, but feel free to contact me for any info/questions you may have ?

@rinrin13 do they send decision letters through email and mail or just mail?

They send a letter about decisions through email and then the same letter by mail

@rinrin13 sorry for all the questions, but can you possibly estimate how much you spent on books+other supplies needed?

Hello everyone @rinrin13 sent me a long email with all the info. I will post it here.

The email from @rinrin13 is below with details regarding Holy Family. I hope this answers everyone questions ?

The true cost of this program comes out to around 35k in tuition. Obviously, you have to pay for all books etc yourself and background checks/fingerprinting/titers you have to pay yourself as well, so I would say extra expenses came out to $1000 extra.

The schedule keeps changing for classes, in the beginning, I had class Mon-Wednesday and lab for 4 hours Thursday and Friday and no clinical (in the first block). The MedSurg II block had class Monday & Tuesday (8am-4pm) and clinical Wednesday & Thursday for 12 hours each day. And most of the blocks after MedSurg were class Monday & Tuesday 8am-4pm and clinical any of day of the week for 12 hours.

When I applied, I had a science GPA of 3.70 and an overall 3.80, but there were a lot of students in my class who got in with lower GPAs around 3.2-3.3.
