Holy Family University Nursing Program: Fall 2009

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

I was recently accepted into Holy Family University Day Nursing Program as a transfer student and I was wondering if anyone has been accepted into this program for Fall 2009. Also, if there are any current students or graduates of this program, can you please give me your opinion about the program and can you please give me some advice or information about the program. Thank You!!

Can I ask how your GPA is if you don't mind me asking? I was in the program, held a 3.1 @ HF, left for a two years to start a family and wouldn't accept me again. They then looked @ my OLD GPA they acccepted me with 6 years before and declined me. So consider yourself LUCKY! I haven't heard a lot of good things over the past two years though, from students that recently graduated.

Right now my GPA is a 3.0. This may change after this semester because I am doing really well in Anatomy and English. What kind of bad things have you heard about this program and should I be concerned?

Well I go/went to HF until now. After I graduated from HS, I went to Manor College for 2 years and transferred to HF. Its been a nightmare since then. There program is so unorganized its not funny and they dont care about at all.. you need to maintain a 2.75gpa to stay in the program pretty much you need at B's in your nursing classes which is a 86..... not impossible but its hard! since I wouldnt recommend transferring there to anyone because there program startsd freshman year... so they make you take all the freshman nursing classes before you can take 200 level, 300 level..... like any school. so thats what took me so long. I also got married and had 2 kids in the middle of going to school. I just recently went back in january to finish after taking off last semester. I failed my 3rd geri test which made me need a 95 on my final which wasnt happening so I'm now being kicked out of the program because I also failed nurs210 for first time which I think was the teacher because i got an A the second time. .. I graduated in 02 fro HS.. so its been a long road for me but I will not give up. I'm just not sure where i can transfer to now and who will take me! but Good luck I hate that school..

Thanks for both of your inputs on this matter. I have a serious decision to make and I will take your comments into consideration when making my final decision. Once again thank you!

Same thing with me, funny, I got married while I was there and left when

I had my 2 kids, left with a 3.1, which isn't the greatest and rejected me when I went to re-enter the program after 2 yrs. The Dean is a real B____! I thought I had a good standing while I attended and when I went back the school was

not the same. It's ashame, it was such a nice small school before it turned University. I feel so bad for you and I TOTALLY know how you feel , I would have been entering the 300 level, was completed the 200 level, even completed it my 1st pregnancy, 1st trimester, sick as a dog, worked full time, there every Saturday for clinical and that's what I got!

Hi. I was a student at Holy Family. I worked extremely hard in every class. I WOULD NOT recommend this university to even my worst enemy. They work hard to make sure as many people as possible fail each semester so that they can make more and more $$$. The entire nursing program consists of money minded individuals. when professors notice that students are passing a class, they change the test formats so that students are caught off guard and fail. Clinicals are so useless because almost all clinical instructors dont care about what is going on as long as all paperwork appears perfect because that is all they need to show the big people. You need a 77 to pass each nursing classs. if you get a 76.9 they will not round it up.No compromise. Clinicals dont count towards your grade but ofcourse if you fail them, you are in trouble. For me holy family was the biggest waste of money because it didn't teach me anything to be a nurse. be ready to do all the work all yourself, because no one is gonna help you out. personally graduated with a 3.5gpa..but i did fail med-surg...by getting 76.5 instead of 77..Good luck. also they dont offer every course every semester so u loose an yr if you fail one class..

I am in the process of applying to Holy Family for the fall of 2009. Just waiting on my college to post my grades from this semester so I can have my transcript sent. I hope to be accepted, How long did it take for them to make their decision?:D

It took about two to three weeks before I received my acceptance letter in the mail. :specs: This is the only school that has accepted me so I will be attending this school in the fall. I applied also to Gwynedd-Mercy College Nursing Program and at first I was put on the waiting list and then a week ago I received a letter saying that there weren't enough seats and the program was full. Even though Holy Family has received bad reviews I have to stay focus and do the best I can to make it through the program and hopefully everything will work out. I really do appreciate these comments because I now know what to espect when I get there. Good luck!:D

My mother-in-law went there and is now a Nurse Practitioner. She assures me that when she applied to NP programs and various jobs that the fact that she went to Holy Family was valued. She did say that they are tough and that they require their nurses to graduate at an advanced level of foregin language. I have a 3.2 GPA, an excellent reccomendation letter, but I am still nervous as I want to get in for the fall. I am going to personally drive my transcripts as soon as montgomery county community college makes them avaiable. How old are you, fdo you have any children, do you live in the area? I am 28, live in glenside area and have a 20 month old little girl. I hope I get in keep your fingers crossed for me.

I am glad you let me know that your aunt is a Nurse Practitioner because this gives some type of hope. Also, have you taken any pre-requisites and are you commuting if so how long is the ride because I am about 45-50 minutes away. Sorry I am asking so many questions:DLOL!! I guess the bottom line is that we have to study and apply ourselves in order to get the things we want in life. I am 20 years old and I do not have any children and I live in the Philadelphia area.Oh yeah, I will keep my fingers crossed. I hope you get in!!:yeah:

I have to have them look at my transcript and tell me what they will take. I took english 1, anatomy and physiology I and II, Psych, Soicology, Developmental psych, abnormal Psy, Biology. I hopw I will get to transfer these in. The commute for me would be about 25 min. or so. What town do you live near? BTW if you want my email is [email protected]

I def. need a study partner, none of my friends from monto are applying here.
