Holiday pay at a Clarian Hospital?

I work at a Hospital in Muncie IN. What do any of you think of an employer not giving you time-and-a-half holiday pay. Instead a "holiday premium" that is a tenth of your hourly wage extra for each holiday hour worked. The reason being given is its not fair for the higher paid staff (Nurses) to make so much when the other hourly employee (techs, house keepers, kitchen staff...) do not. I am feeling under-appreciated here. Please let me know if I am wrong or right to feel this way.

Just as an outsider trying to peer into the world of nursing, I feel that reason they gave you is completely bogus. They're trying to argue that the holiday time is time equally devoted by everyone, so everyone should be getting [closer] to the same pay. We all know that's a big bunch of bull. They're just trying to cut costs and save money. If someone is worth spending more money on before a differential, then they're worth spending more money on after a differential. They have skills you want and need that are way more highly specialized than those other workers' skills, so they deserve a higher differential. I mean, after all, the actual nurses could ACTUALLY do the other workers' jobs should push come to shove, I'm sure; but, I highly doubt that the same would hold true for the flip-side of the coin. So, yeah, I feel as though you're completely justified in your position. At the very least, the pay shouldn't only be 1/10 the normal differential. They're just taking advantage of their skilled workers.
