Hofstra AGACNP/CRNA 2022

Published

Hello,

Wanted to start this trend since I didn't see one started. Just had some questions about the process. Think this will be a great way we can answer any questions along the way.

Specializes in ICU nursing.

Just found out I’ll be in this fall 2022 cohort ! so excited to join y’all

Congrats! See you in August!

Specializes in Cardiothoracic ICU.

A bit confused with this school - was the deadline March 1 2022 to start in Fall 2022? If so, when do applications open for Fall 2023?

Some time in August.  The earlier you apply the better off your chances.  Don't wait until March 1st to apply.

Okay, got it! Thanks for the info.

Can someone explain the usefulness of this program? As an ACNP I definitely was not prepared to practice after graduation (in-person state/public school) and needed a year-long fellowship to fill the gaps. I couldn't imagine learning to become a competent ACNP WHILE learning to be a CRNA.

Seems like a lot of stealing from Peter to pay Paul as the job and skillset are vastly different.

I heard through the grapevine that tuition is free for those who work for Northwell, can anyone confirm if this is true?

Congrats to those that got in! Can anyone share a little bit about what their class schedule is like?

I have a question to people working at Northwell. Is the Hofstra CRNA program 100% free for nurses working in the Northwell system? Is there a requirement ?

What textbooks did you guys use?

I would advise you read Chapters 1,2,4,7 in Morgan Mikhails Clincical Anesthesiology.

I would also recommend you read handbook of veterinary anesthesia chapter 12,13,14.

definitely memorize  pediatric normal lab values. If you can do all that you will be in great shape!

if you have time after that I would read to kill a mockingbird as it provides good significance for certain aspects of anesthetic management.
