Congratulations on getting accepted! I'm in my first semester at FSU right now. I don't know anything about the scholarships that are available. I believe it's a separate application. Call and speak with one of the academic advisors. They should be able to give you any and all info.

I can share some details with you regarding the first semester, if you're interested. I'll warn you in advance, I don't have all good things to say... :)

Twarlik,

It is my understanding that I have to take out a , what is this all about? Did you have to look about the background check on your own? Does the school supply the uniforms and the stetoscope? Please tell me all about it.

When you get your acceptance letter, you will get a big packet of information. The application for is included. It's only $20 and you can fax the application in. No big deal.

You will also receive info regarding the background check. There will be a fingerprinting card that you will need to have completed. Any police station can take your finger prints for you. You then have to turn that in to the nursing school with a check. I believe it was about $20. The school of nursing takes care of the rest.

The uniforms have to be ordered from Hellen's Uniforms here in Tallahassee. There will be an order form enclosed with your acceptance letter. You could probably fax the form to Hellen's, if you know your sizes. You are responsible for purchasing a stethoscope. You can get a kit w/ stethoscope, pen light, scissors, carrying case, and some other goodies from Hellen's when you order your uniform. That's what I did. You have to buy at least two sets of uniforms and a lab coat. When all was said and done I spent around $300. That included uniforms, lab coat, shoes and my stethoscope kit.

There will also be a medical form that you'll need to have completed. If you don't have it all, then now would be a good time to start collecting your shot records. You'll need to have the standard immunizations, including Hepatitis B and a TB skin test.

Don't let all the information they send you overwhelm you. It totally stressed me out at first, but I managed to get everything done in time. If you have any more questions, just let me know. I'm happy to help!

congratulations! I graduated from FSU in 99 and I loved it there. Of course there are certain instructors that get on everyone's nerves but overall it was a good experience. Be sure you focus on all of your core science classes while in school (pharmacology, adult health I and II) so that you can further your education later on! Remember, it's only 2 years and then your out with the rest of us! :)

Thank you Versatile. I am very excited. I hope i will be able to get a scholarship soon because I am an international student and I have to pay out of state. I am planning to go to a hospital in Tallahassee for help with my tuition, and i would not mind working for them for the two years.

Again thanks!

If you have any information on scholarships please let me know.

Ann.

Hi Ann,

Congratulations on your acceptance. The student nurses association sells the school uniforms for dirt cheap. They are used but it will save you a lot of money.

Email them at [email protected]. Tell them what size you wear and if you want to pants or the dress outfit or both.

MEME,

Thank you. Do you know if I will be able to get a scholarship during orientation? I am well in need of a scholarship. I do not know how I am going to pay my tuition. Being an international student is so hard here.

Thanks for the info.:D

Ann, did things not work out with the hospital?

Twarlik,

I called the hospital and sked for an application and the lady told me that she will send it to me. I have not received it and so I called her today again and she again told me that she will send it to me but she has to get the reply by november 14. I hope to get it soon.

Do you have any other suggestion? Twarlik, I paid the processing fee for a two bedroom flat at Alumni Village too. The rent is not that expensive but I have to pay all utilities like water, electric and gas. I feel very happy, although I have no idea how my tuition is going to be paid. God will work something out for me. I bought three books too. Two for drug calculation and the other on how to survive nursing school. I find them very interesting.

Please give me all the information that you think will help me.

Thank you.

If you don't get the application from the hospital soon, then call the school of nursing and speak with an advisor. I believe they keep copies of that application on hand.

Wish I had more advice to offer. I really hope everything works out for the best. Keep us posted.

Twarlik,

I just want to thank you for the support and the information you have given me. I have gotten the packet from the school and I am at present working on my vaccines. I have not taken the CPR as yet because I do not see where they have it just now.

Everything is going fine.

thanks again!

Ann
